Freaky Fall Festival photos - October 24, 2015
Once a year, creatures come to haunt the Savannas Preserve State Park to help raise money for our mission. With a new addition to the Education Center, more than ever did we need to raise funds and bring in reinforcements. This year, we partnered with the Jensen Beach High School Drama Department to bring a night full of alien invasions to our featured Haunted Trail while providing family-friendly games, crafts, and entertainment inside the Education Center for our younger guests.
Equestrian Poker Ride For Education - August 1, 2015
The first Equestrian Poker Ride for Education took place on August 1, 2015. Horseback riders explored the beautiful terrain of the Savannas Preserve State Park while having fun with their friends, enjoying lunch cooked by the Friends of the Savannas, and earning poker cards in hopes of having the best hand to win $100. Not only did everyone have a chance to win the grand prize of $100, generous sponsors from the Treasure Coast offered many giveaways. Because of the dedication of our hard working volunteers and park staff, this event was a huge success that helped raise $477 to purchase brand new student microscopes for our Wet Lab in the Education Center. Special thanks to Carly Batts, a student at Stetson University's Club Equestrian. Carly suggested this idea to the Friends of Savannas and took the executive lead in planning, organizing, and executing this event.
