BioEYES
BioEYES is a hands-on science project that transforms a static classroom into a scientific lab. Students are appointed as scientists, handed 2 live zebrafish in a transparent breeding tank, and for the next week, will mate the fish, and then raise the resulting embryos until they hatch out as clear, free-swimming larvae with beating hearts that can be seen under our provided microscopes.
The BioEYES program offers students opportunities to explore life science through real world applications. With this program activity, its curriculum covers biology, genetics and the scientific method. The goal of BioEYES is to teach conceptual understanding of life science content and processing skills while exciting children to the thrill of scientific discovery. Currently, outreach programs have reached more than 100,000 students in Philadelphia, PA; Baltimore, MD; South Bend, IN; Melbourne, Australia; Salt Lake City, UT. BioEYES premiered in St. Lucie County at Oxbow Eco-Center (5400 NE St. James Drive) and Savannas Preserve State Park in June 2017.
